SilverFast Ai6.5 scanner software sets a new standard for ease of control and sophistication for Desktop-Scanners (film and flatbed). SilverFast Ai6.5 is high-end scan and imaging software from LaserSoft Imaging which is now available for more than 250 scanners and Digital Cameras under Mac OS-X (10.3 or higher), Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems. SilverFast Ai combines a very intuitive user interface with a sophisticated and professional scanner and image control. Beginners and professionals will appreciate the unique real-time controls and the intelligent automatic functions as well as the possibility to manually adjust the image at any point. Predictable color from the SilverFast Ai preview gives imaging and color reproduction a new dimension securing the correct workflow with the ScanPilot. The professional user can adjust any operation via numerical input and can precisely monitor the results using an online densitometer.

SilverFast HDR  Many of today's scanners allow the ability to write the full dynamic range of its hardware into TIFF-data. This makes the reduction to 24 bit RGB obsolete. The ability to save these 'raw' files opens up a whole new workflow. The images can be scanned and archived into digital format, and then opened at a later date without any loss quality. In order to save such data with extended dynamic range, the 48 bit TIFF format has been defined. Scanners with only 30 or 36 bit capability supply into this format their maximum output. Regardless of the effective dynamic range supplied, the file will always becomes a 48 bit file. Normal scan software saves images into a 24 bit file, discarding the extra information supplied from the scanner. 48 bit files retain all of the information supplied.

Instead of driving the scanner directly, SilverFast HDR enables the user to read these raw files and process the data as if he had access to the original image on the scanner. All SilverFast tools are fully applicable: Defining output size, Auto-Adjust, Histogram, Gradation curves, Selective Colour Correction, Unsharp Masking, Colour Separation, CMYK-Preview....

1. A sample can be scanned and given back to the customer immediately.
2. Final output processing is not required at this time, the image only has to be saved.            3. Precious samples can be scanned without any loss in quality.
4. The raw scan can be performed by any person (without any knowledge of scanning) – it is only required that the user set the scan resolution.
5. Since the raw scan is now saved in HDR format, it can be transmitted over the internet in this raw form, opening up new dimensions for work flow!

Since SilverFast HDR never drives the scanner directly, it can be used with raw data files produced from scanners that SilverFast doesn't normally support. Simply scan the file with no correction using the original scan software, and then pass the resulting TIFF file to HDR. Now you will have all of SilverFast's tools at your disposal!

SilverFast DCPro high-end Digital Camera Software addresses the specific needs of the digital photographer. The application combines the unlimited functionality of SilverFastAi with the unique Virtual Light Table. The Virtual Light Table provides the user with the capability to effectively view, organize and manage their digital image files. The application also provides essential image correction tools, such as red-eye removal, colour correction, white balance, and exposure adjustment. Advanced SilverFast features, including ACR, USM, GANE, selective colour correction, and JobManager, allow the amateur and professional photographer to achieve the desired results from their digital photographic images. SilverFast DCPro supports the Raw Data Formats for many professional digital cameras from Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Kodak, Fuji and Sigma. The conversion of the raw data takes place as a time-saving background process and the results are stored automatically. Hence, the user can re-open converted files without losing time.

SilverFast DC VLT enables fast and efficient optimization of all non-compressed RGB-Tiff-Data from the hard disk. Instead of generating a prescan, a file is loaded from the hard disk. Images from digital cameras (low- and midrange) will especially benefit from SilverFast's LAB-Unsharp masking, which does not sharpen the colour noise of single channels, but instead only sharpens the image's edges effectively. Since all steps of processing can be monitored on the preview, the final processing is more or less one operation. Loss in quality due to repeated processing can be kept minimal. SilverFast DC contains all the known features of SilverFast for professional image optimization through an intuitive and flexible user interface giving the user full control at one glance! SilverFast DC can also be upgraded with SilverFast Job Management. This allows you to batch correct many images on the fly, and much more.

SilverFast DC SE is specially designed for those who want to enter the world of image processing digital camera data. Images will be mainly benefit from SilverFast’s intelligent automatic functions which help to make the process of adjusting much easier. The Virtual Light Table VLT is an essential work base for photographers who like to organize, manage and resume images in an easy way. The extended print dialog offers the possibility of printing images or image areas selected by the frames in the preview. The selected images can be scaled, rotated or positioned manually on the print sheet.
SilverFast DC SE can be upgraded to SilverFast DC VLT or the SilverFast DCPro versions with RAW data conversion.

SilverFast X-Ray is a variation of the professional scan software SilverFast Ai and was especially designed for the digitalization of x-rays.

Dental X-Rays, Cardiac X-Rays, Lung X-Rays, any size of X-Ray can be digitized dependent on the size of the flatbed scanner (see recommended scanner models further down).

Due to the individual adjustment to the characteristics of adequate scanners SilverFast X-Ray is able to get maximal details as well as the plentifulness of tonal values out of medical and scientific x-rays. The easy use of the tools also enables users without special knowledge in image processing to obtain perfect scans.

*To scan x-rays demands a great deal of quality of the flatbed scanners' transparency units. The elementary highlight and shadow details are inaccessible with low-end scanners yet essential from a medical point of view. Consequently only few modern scanners fulfil these requirements.
